The 2015 golf season is off and running and I am very excited to be a part of it. The game has been steadily building from least years’ positive momentum for many reasons…good golfing weather (for most of us) being one. However, watching the newest PGA Tour Champion and golfing sensation, Jordan Speith, has brought a lot of renewed – and welcome – attention to the game. With the British Open just around the corner and the ‘Speith Watch’ in full swing, everyone wants to see if he can capture another leg of the elusive Grand Slam.
This energy can only add to our success and it’s time to think about how to grow the game right now. What can we offer to enhance the game? Do you have ideas in the back of your mind you’ve thought about launching? Over the years, my most successful clinics have always been short game schools, simply because I enjoyed teaching them and I’m good at it. What are you good at? What do you enjoy most? We hear the phrase ‘think outside the box’ so often, it’s easy to forget that it’s important to act on our core strengths, education, experience, and most importantly, what you enjoy. Don’t be afraid to do what you are best at.
I wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer! Celebrate the great nation we live in by playing a round of golf with friends, family, or students. Even better, play at one our new partner facilities and support those courses who support the Canadian Golf Teachers Federation!
